Having been fortunate to lead the Fonterra Transactions Services Business Unit in New Zealand, I was approached to set up a Global Business Services Centre for Fonterra in Malaysia. My role saw me oversee all aspects of the establishment of the centre, including vendor selection for the architect, overseeing office design and development, to recruitment of the team and migration of work from in excess of 20 countries across the northern hemisphere. This project was highly complex due to the need for precision in the migration of complex financial, procurement and HR processes and controls. In addition there was a need to work closely with key stakeholder customers who were having major impacts to their teams.

The centre was up and running in 9 months from project “kick-off” and full migration activity was completed in 13 months. Fonterra received significant attention in the GBS sector for the accelerated deployment and quality of migration of business processes.
