It is becoming more and more critical for businesses to remove wastage from business processes. One key project that I lead was the implementation of Kofax within Fonterra. Fonterra processes in excess of 1.5m invoices annually, and this has historically required a significant amount of people to process. For this initiative I oversaw vendor selection, business case development, functional requirements, pulling together a small but highly skilled team to deliver transformation process change. The Kofax project delivered an automation tool that provided for the digital capture of invoices, sophisticated business rules to manage the requirements of multiple ERPs and operating models, and eliminated many thousands of hours of manual processing work. This project also delivered the ability to mandate that all invoices be provided electronically, delivering substantial benefits to the company with a process that also benefited vendors.
